Individuals
Your mental health is as important as your physical health. In the same way that you wouldn’t hesitate to see a doctor if you were feeling ill, seeing a mental health professional can help you get well and reach your full potential.
There are many reasons that people come to therapy. It could be because of a traumatic single incident, such as a divorce or, death of a loved one. You may need support and counselling sessions to work with grief, get back on your feet, and build your confidence.
At other times, it might be a life cycle development issue, such as the birth of a new baby or renegotiating your marriage or other significant relationships. The addition of new family members or the loss of friendships or relationships can be a significant trigger for something deeper. You may need to adjust certain aspects of your life that are causing you distress, and we can work on that together.
It is also important to recognise when you might need help for a long-standing or emerging mental health issue, such as anxiety or depression. With the support of your GP, a mental health care plan, and good psychotherapy, you can develop insight, become more aware of your inner negative cognitions ( that critical voice inside your head) and get to know the parts of you that are holding you back in fear and self-doubt.
Sometimes medication can be of benefit in conjunction with your therapy. We can work together with your GP to tailor the treatment that is best for your individual needs.
Think of therapy as looking at yourself with a different lens. You’ll get to explore parts of yourself in a safe environment and sometimes that can be challenging but it can also be a fascinating discovery. You can recover from trauma and treat yourself with more compassion and kindness.
Become stronger, more resilient, and develop a better relationship with yourself.
