Young People
Young people are on the brink of adulthood and independence and are often dealing with many issues at once in terms of their identity, sexuality, navigating friendships and first loves, finding their way and making decisions about their future careers and study.
Adolescence can be a time of many new beginnings and exploration, but it can also be a time of painful and awkward thoughts and feelings, and we know that it can be a time of vulnerability for some young people with mental health issues emerging for the first time.
Navigating life is challenging. Being able to talk with a mental health professional gives young people a safe space to explore their feelings and better understand both themselves and others.
Some common reasons that young people come to therapy
- Low mood, poor motivation, eating problems, loss of hope, suicidal thoughts
- Navigating sexual and/ or gender identity
- Breakups and relationship issues, bullying, and difficult family dynamics
- Experiencing grief and loss and/ or high levels of distress.
- Recent diagnosis of a mental health issue, depression, and anxiety
- Experiencing a trauma such as sexual assault or family violence
- Problems with eating, substance use or self-harm
You can bring any of these problems to therapy with me, and I will provide a professional, non-judgmental, safe space to support you in accessing what you need.
