My view
is that most people that come to therapy have had enough of feeling the way they are feeling “now” and want some change. Therapy can help improve your relationships with others and your sense of self, in order to reach your full potential. I believe that we all have a wise and compassionate self, deep within us. I can use a range of therapeutic techniques, as well as my warmth, sense of humor and authenticity in order to help you get in touch with the more conscious, calm, and compassionate part of you.
What you get when you choose to start some therapy or counselling with me:
- I will treat you as an expert in your own life.
- I will not tell you what to do but will help you get to the place you want to go.
- I will go at your pace.
- I will use my clinical expertise but will not minimize your experience with
diagnostic jargon. - I will encourage you to involve your significant others, including your family.
- I will notice your strengths and help you explore the things that get in the way of you achieving some inner peace and sense of self.
- Therapy can feel really empowering at times and can also be challenging, but I will help you cope.
Choosing a therapist who is properly qualified and experienced is crucial to the success of your therapy journey. Here are some key factors to consider when searching for a good match for psychological counseling:
-
Credentials: Look for a licensed mental health professional who has the proper training and credentials to provide counseling services.
-
Experience: Seek a counselor who has experience working with clients who have similar issues to yours. This will help ensure that your therapist has the necessary knowledge and skills to help you work through your challenges effectively.
-
Approach: Consider the therapist’s approach to counseling. Different therapists have different styles and techniques, so it’s important to find someone whose approach resonates with you. Some therapists may use cognitive-behavioral therapy, while others may take a more holistic or integrative approach.
-
Rapport: Finally, trust your gut when it comes to your therapist. It’s important to find someone you feel comfortable talking to and who you can trust with your most personal matters.
Remember, finding the right counselor is a personal decision that requires some research and self-reflection. By taking the time to find a good match, you can set yourself up for a successful therapy journey that can lead to meaningful and lasting change.
